TERTIARY SERIES

Grade series

Notes:


  • For Adults and students (18+).  Assessed via Jury.


  • Suitable for Undergraduate Music Performance Study.


  • The Tertiary Series requires high-level recorded performances via the presentation of a video file (with links). 


  • Recorded performances may be via a private, or public YouTube channel, or some other medium. They need to clearly show the candidate performing. 


  • Performances may come from performing in live concerts, competitions, and/or at private or public functions. 


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged throughout the Tertiary Series.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements. Such compositions may also be used for assessment for the Composer/Arranger pathway. Candidates may utilise this for assessment in lieu of the performance requirement.  


  • Exception: Performances that can be verified as commercial disc recordings from a recognised studio. This exception is applied minimally for examination purposes. 

 

  • HONOURS (PASS):  80 - 89%. 
  • DISTINCTION:  90 -94%
  • HIGH DISTINCTION:  95 - 100% 

Elementary Tertiary Grades

  •  Tertiary Grades 1 - 3  (Elementary Levels)  


  • Candidates are required to present a different Elementary Level program of ten (10) recorded performances for each of the Grades 1 - 3.

Intermediate Tertiary Grades

  •  Tertiary Grades 4 - 7  (intermediate Levels) 


  • Candidates are required to present  a different Intermediate Level program of  ten (10) recorded performances for each of the Grades 4 - 7. 

Advanced Tertiary Grades

  •  Tertiary Grades  8 – 10 (Advanced Levels)


  • Candidates are required to present  a different Advanced Level program of  ten (10) recorded performances for each Grade. 

Associate in Music

tertiary diploma series - online Assessment via Jury

Pre-requisite:

  • Artistic Performance Certificate (Secondary Series)  or


  • Advanced Tertiary Grade 10

Requirements: 


  • 12 high-level recorded performances


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.


  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series. 


  • First Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a first year undergraduate degree).

Licentiate in Music

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Associate in Music

  • 15 high-level recorded performances


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.

  • Second Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a second year undergraduate degree).

Fellowship in Music

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

  • Licentiate in Music

Requirements: 


  • 17 high-level recorded performances


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.  
     
  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series. ​


  • Third Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a third year undergraduate degree).

Senior Fellowship in Music

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

  • Fellowship in Music

Requirements: 


  • 20  high-level recorded performances 


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.  


  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series. ​ 


  • Fourth Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a fourth year undergraduate or honours degree or Graduate Certificate).

Distinguished Senior Fellowship in Music

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

  • Senior Fellowship in Music

Requirements: 


  • 25  high-level recorded performances


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.  

 

  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series. ​ 


  • Fifth Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a Graduate Diploma). 

MASTER OF Music PERFORMANCE

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Distinguished Senior Fellowship in Music

Requirements: 


  • 30  high-level recorded performances


  • Performance on related, historical, or modern instrumentation is encouraged.


  • Candidates may also perform their own high-level compositions or arrangements.  

 

  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series. ​ 


  • Final Stage of the Masters International Music Performance Program (equivalent to a master's degree). 


  • Graduates may move onto the professional level Master Series or pursue the Master of Music in Conducting

MASTER OF Music - CONDUCTING

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Master of Music Performance - MMus (MISM)

Requirements: 


  • Video of the candidate conducting any type of musical group in concert.


  • Video Essay of rehearsal techniques - section and full rehearsal. 


  • Provide a Repertoire List of Chosen Works for the above.


  • Video of the candidate rehearsing any type of musical group. 


  • Other evidence of conducting at various levels, and in various situations (band, orchestra, ensembles, workshops, masterclasses, et al.). Video evidence required with YouTube links, private or public. 


  • Designation for this level: MMus Cond. (MISM )

MASTER OF Music - teaching

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Master of Music Performance - MMus (MISM)
  • Master of Music Conducting - MMus Cond. (MISM )

Requirements: 


  • Video of Teaching related, historical, or modern instrumentation.


  • Video of Teaching various styles or genre applied to this Series. ​ 


  • Provide a Syllabus of Chosen Works on the candidate's specialist study area covering all levels of learning up to and including this level. 


  • Provide a list of Supplementary Studies and other material that supports the development of such a Syllabus. 


  • Work Experience and or other evidence of teaching at various levels or a  video or a workshop showing the candidate in a teaching situation. 


  • Designation for this level:  MMusT (MISM)
  • Title: Chartered Music Teacher - CMT

MASTER OF Music THERAPY

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Master of Music Teaching - MMusT (MISM ) 
  • Hold Membership to a recognized Music Therapy Association, etc.

Notes: 

  

At least three (3) or more years of study and/or experience in Music Therapy (undergraduate program), plus additional training in Counselling, Psychology, or related fields - diploma or degree programs.  

 

Requirements: 


  • A large repertoire suited to various Music Therapy applications
  • Candidates may  also perform their own compositions or arrangements.
     
  • Any style or  genre may be applied to this Series. 


  • Discuss via  video presentation how their program assists various client situations  including a discussion of:
     
  • Goals of Music Therapy
     
  • Music Therapy in Practice
  • Sound Therapy
     
  • ​Music Therapy Techniques & Applications
     
  • Music Therapy  Research​ - A written paper on  other aspects, describing how Music Therapy can assist clients to improve wellness, alleviate  pain, manage stress, expression, memory enhancement, communication, physical rehabilitation, and emotional regulation.

  • Title: Chartered Music Therapist - CMTh.

MASTER OF Musicology

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Master of Music Teaching - MMusT (MISM )

Notes: 

  

Includes but is not limited to the research and study of Historical Musicology, Jazz, Cultural Musicology or Ethnomusicology, Popular music studies, Music Theory and its analysis of Composition, Music Psychology, Music Industry, Music Performance Methodologies & Practice, et al. ​ Of particular interest, is the addition of innovative exploration and development of techniques into the creation or adaptation of new forms of instrumentation. 


Suitable for Graduates /Post Graduates in any other Master of Music programs including Music Therapy.
 

Requirements: 


  • A dissertation on any area of music study via research (see above)
  • Candidates may  also present their own compositions if undertaking a Compositional pathway.
     
  • Any style or  genre may be applied to this Series. 


  • Discuss via  video presentation how their research demonstrates advances in the study of Musicology, generally or specifically.

MASTER OF Music ADMINISTRATION

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • High Grade or Diploma in Music as a minimum
  • Bachelor of Business Administration or Management or by experience*
  • Certificate or higher in Accounting or by experience*
  • Verifiable CV

* managing a music school

Requirements: 


  • Dissertation on Music Business & Industry (any area of interest )


  • Designation for this level: MMus Admin. (MISM )

director OF the Musical arts

ONLINE ASSESSMENT VIA JURY

Pre-requisite: 


  • Master of Musicology - MMusicol.. (MISM)
  • MIMEB - MusE. or higher

Experience in Music Administration, Examining & Adjudication, Conducting, Teaching, Music History, and Composition, etc. A full verifiable CV is to be presented along with the dissertation for this award.
 

Requirements: 


  • A dissertation covering the various areas of music practice and experience from both the teacher's and students'  perspective.


  • Candidates may  also perform/conduct their own compositions or arrangements if presenting a performance stream. Video performance.
     
  • Any style or  genre may be applied to this Series. 


  • Discuss via  video presentation how their research demonstrates advances in the study of the Musical Arts, both generally and specifically.
